It describes what happens when you visit dictaquill.com and when you fill in one of its forms. The Dictaquill app has its own privacy page; the short version is that the app has no server, and your audio and your words stay on your Mac.

What the forms collect

The download form asks only for your email address. We also record the time, your browser’s timezone name, and which of our pages you came from.

The early-access form on the pages for lawyers and therapists collects your email address, the boxes you ticked, the languages and computer you chose, whether you want to try the current version, the price answer you gave if you gave one, and anything you typed in the optional note. Alongside those we record which page you signed up on, the time, your browser’s timezone name (for example “America/New_York”, never your location), the address of the page that sent you here if your browser shares it, and any campaign tags in the link you followed.

We do not ask for your name, your firm, your practice or your phone number.

Where it is kept

In Google Sheets spreadsheets in our own Google account. Google stores them on our behalf. It is not shared with, sold to or uploaded into any marketing tool, advertising network or data broker.

What it is used for

Deciding what to build, writing to you when there is a build for you to try, and, if you downloaded the app, telling you when a new version is out. Nothing else. Every email will include a way to stop further ones.

How long it is kept

Until early access ends or you ask for it to be removed, whichever comes first. If the project is dropped, the list is deleted.

Seeing or deleting your entry

Write to hello@dictaquill.com from the address you signed up with. You will get a copy of your row, or confirmation that it has been deleted, within 30 days. If you are in the EU or the UK you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Downloading the app

The app file is served by GitHub, not by this site. Like any website, GitHub records your IP address and the time of the request, and its own privacy statement applies to that part. We see only how many times the file was downloaded.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies and loads no advertising or social-media scripts. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google.

Visits are counted by the company that hosts this site, Vercel, with its Web Analytics. For each page viewed it records the page, the site that sent you here, any campaign tags in the link, your country, region and city (worked out from your connection), your browser, your operating system and whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer. It uses no cookies: Vercel tells one visit from another by a code calculated from the request, which it discards after 24 hours. We see totals only, never a record of you.
